EN 101 Grammar and Composition I                                                                                           [3 Hours]
This course is an in-depth study of grammar, punctuation, mechanics, and spelling.  It emphasizes the compositional process and paragraph development.
 
EN 102 Grammar and Composition II                                                                                        [3 Hours]
This course is a continued in-depth study of grammar and a study of writing with an emphasis on research skills, organizing information, and critical analysis.
 
EN 211 Introduction to Children’s Literature                                                                            [3 Hours]
This course is a study of children’s literature with an emphasis on exposing the student to a variety of authors, illustrators, and books.  The study includes ways to utilize children’s literature in the church school classroom.
 
EN 221 English Literature                                                                                                                [3 Hours]This course is a survey of England’s prose and poetry from the fifth century until the present, with an emphasis on the religious, political and social conditions reflected in each work.
EN 301 Advanced Grammar and Composition                                                                            [3 Hours]
This course is a detailed study of grammatical and compositional elements of the English language with an emphasis upon sentence analysis and supervised research.
 
EN 302 History and Structure of the English Language                                                            [2 Hours]
This course is a study of the origin and development of the English language with an emphasis on grammar, sound, spelling, and vocabulary.
 
EN 321 American Literature                                                                                                            [3 Hours]
This course is a survey of American literature from the seventeenth century to the present with an emphasis on the religious, political, and social conditions reflected in each work.
 
EN 351 Literary Criticism                                                                                                                 [2 Hours]
This course is a study of the principles of literary criticism with an emphasis on terminology and historical bases of modern schools of criticism.
 
EN 361 Young Adult Literature                                                                                                        [2 Hours]
This course is a study of adolescent class and modern literature, emphasizing the evaluation of various works and their appropriateness for the young adult reader.
 
EN 362 Shakespeare                                                                                                                            [2 Hours]
This course is a study of the major Shakespearean comedies, histories, tragedies, and romances.

Possible Electives
EN 131, 231, 331, 431 Yearbook Production                                                                                  [1 Hour]
This course is a workshop in publication of the college yearbook.  Staff assignments in layout and design, photography, copy preparation, and reporting of school events are completed.
